President-elect Donald Trump has announced his nomination of Florida Representative Matt Gaetz as the United States Attorney General.

Gaetz, a staunch ally of Trump, has been recognized for his focus on reforming the Department of Justice. Trump praised Gaetz in a statement on his Truth Social media account, describing him as a "deeply gifted and tenacious attorney, trained at the William & Mary College of Law."

The appointment of the Attorney General comes at a significant time for the Justice Department, which has faced criticism throughout Trump's tenure. As Attorney General, Gaetz will play a crucial role in implementing Trump's agenda and potentially leading investigations into the President-elect's adversaries.

President-elect Trump has been working quickly to fill out his cabinet as he prepares to return to the White House for a second term, nominating Tulsi Gabbard to serve as Director of National Intelligence.

Previously, he tapped Fox News anchor Pete Hegseth to be his secretary of defense and John Ratcliffe as the Director of the Central Intelligence Agency. He has also picked South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem to lead the Department of Homeland Security and nominated Marco Rubio as Secretary of State.

Trump also announced that he is creating the Department of Government Efficiency, which will be helmed by Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy.
