Did Ronald Reagan Influence The Iran Hostage Crisis?

Ronald Reagan won the 1980 presidential election in resounding fashion, in large part due to the issues that Jimmy Carter faced while in the oval office. One of those challenges was the Iran hostage crisis, but new evidence may point to Reagan himself having a hand in prolonging that situation and hurting Carter in the polls. Craig Unger, Author of the new book ‘Den of Spies’ spoke with the WOR Morning Show about the findings in his book, and just how much Reagan knew.

“In broad strokes Reagan must have been pretty clear about what was going on,” Unger tells guest host Rory O’Neill. “But specifically, it’s very had to prove.”

Unger does believe that Reagan pulled the strings to get himself in the White House: “Here we have a secret treasonous covert operation that sabotaged an American presidential election that took place more than 40 years ago.”
