The Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree lighting ceremony takes place tonight as we get past Thanksgiving and fully kick into the Christmas season in New York City. People from all over the world travel here just for this night every year and 2025 is no different with people from Atlanta, Grand Rapids, Dublin, Dayton, Maine, and England among those who spoke with WOR Reporter Natalie Migliore about the event. Migliore talked with Mendte in the Morning about what she heard from people on the street about the tree and why they came to see the ceremony.
“It’s beautiful and it gets you in the Christmas spirit,” one person told Migliore. “It’s so iconic; it’s just one of those things that it would just be nice to see in person,” another traveler said to Migliore.
One woman is here to see the tree as her 50th birthday present and explained why she wanted to see the giant spruce: “We don’t do things like this in Lubbock; we’ve got trees, we have a Santaland, but this is where people from all over the world come to see this.”
