Is Anyone Looking At Job Applications Between Thanksgiving And New Year’s?

As we reach the holiday season, we get to the point in the year where many companies around the country slow down operations and many workers begin to coast until the new year. This knowledge is a reason that many who are in the middle of a job search will often pause until after the holidays, but is that the right thing to do? Greg Giangrande, career advice expert, talked with Mendte in the Morning about why you should keep applying through the holidays.

“That is a common myth that everything shuts down, so your job search should shut down too,” Giangrande told host Larry Mendte. “If you are already in the grind or throes of a search, now is definitely not the time to stop.”

Giangrande believes a short break is ok, but nothing more than that: “There’s lots of really good reasons to continue your search now; the competition is less… many companies are still hiring; so, I would pause this weekend just to reassess your approach, but I wouldn’t put it on hold.”
