How To Navigate Your Boss Forcing You Back Into The Office

As we move further away from the COVID-19 pandemic, we move away from some of the norms that arose from that time such as fully remote workers. Companies have begun to ask their workers who have been working remotely to come back into the office, and in some cases forcing it. Greg Giangrande, career advice expert, spoke with Mendte in the Morning about what you should do if you were hired as a fully remote worker, and your employer has changed the terms of your contract.

“I wouldn’t reveal your cards…I would just keep saying to your employer that this is very challenging for me,” Giangrande told host Larry Mendte. “Do not say things like ‘Well if you don’t compensate me, I’m going to have to leave’ because technically that’s a resignation.”

Giangrande thinks that a conversation about the issues could be helpful depending on your situation: “If you are a highly valued employee, then you probably have some negotiating leverage; if they don’t want to lose you, I would just have the conversation with your boss.”
