With the recent news of Joe Biden’s cancer diagnosis and the recurring health questions of other top politicians such as Mitch McConnell, it brings up the question of how thorough the physicals for our politicians are. All of these politicians have their own doctors but should they checked on by independent medical professionals? Dr. Arthur Caplan, Professor of Bioethics at NYU Langone Medical Center, spoke with Mendte in the Morning about that question and what we need from our politicians.
“I don’t know that our politicians will ever give it to us but if we don’t want to have these situations, we need independent medical exams,” Dr. Caplan told host Larry Mendte. “We should solve this but we let the politicians off the hook.”
Dr. Caplan thinks the solution to this problem is simple: “Take the President, the Vice President, Senators, Congressmen in for a real physical done by experts… and then be transparent.”
