Few players in the history of the NBA have done as much to change the sport as much as Stephen Curry and his 3-point shooting skills. His success has led to many other teams and players to place a bigger emphasis on shooting the long ball even if unsuccessful such as the recent Knicks vs. Celtics playoff series in which the two teams missed 311 3-pointers combined. Warner Wolf, legendary sportscaster, spoke with Mendte in the Morning about the strategy and why he thinks it is bad for the sport.
“Put the basketball back into basketball, move the ball around, bring back the emphasis on the mid-range jumper,” Wolf told host Larry Mendte. “Stop the game from just being 3-pointers and dunks; I think it’s hurt the game.”
Wolf has an idea on how to stop teams from shooting so many 3-pointers: “Instead of the current 23 feet and 9 inches, and 22 feet from the corner, change it to 30 feet around the arc.”
