Gov. Hochul: MTA In A Strong Financial Position

Even after hitting the brakes on the MTA's congestion pricing plan, Governor Kathy Hochul says the agency is still able to "deliver a world-class public transit system."

"The MTA is now in a strong financial position, which will allow it to continue to meet its responsibilities to its millions of riders to provide safe and timely transport," Hochul said.

The governor claims she's invested in public safety initiatives and have added extra resources tot he stabilize the system. She said New Yorkers shouldn't be concerned about planned projects not being delivered.

Hochul is attempting to reassure the public, after the decision on congestion pricing could cost the MTA $1 billion in annual revenue. The agency has said that would impact its capital program.
