21 Years Of Congestion Pricing Hasn't Changed London's Traffic

Len Berman and Michael Riedel did a deep dive into the recent history of congestion pricing this morning when they talked with Tony Travers, a professor of Politics at The London School of Economics.

Travers reported, "After 21 years of congestion pricing in London, nothing has improved. Politicians widened the sidewalks and added more bike lanes, which in turn shrunk the road space for automobiles, thus making the congestion on London roads as bad as ever. The money brought in from congestion pricing was used to improve the London bus system, and ridership did increase for a time but has since declined because of the returned congestion, so the benefits promised did not last."
