WOR Week in Review

Len Berman & Michael Riedel in the Morning:

With five number one songs and over 30 million records sold worldwide, Huey Lewis and the News was easily one of the most popular bands to come out of the 1980s. Now, the nostalgia movement has brought their music to Broadway, as tickets for “The Heart of Rock and Roll” went on sale Wednesday afternoon. The play features many of the band’s chart-busting hits, like “Hip to Be Square,” “Stuck with You,” and “If This Is It.” In recent years, Lewis made headlines after his hearing loss from Meniere’s disease meant he could no longer hear the music he made. Lewis talked with Len and Michael this week about how he used the play as his “salvation”- four years after he first appeared on the show to discuss the play, which he had hoped to release before Covid put those plans on hold.

With the 2024 Presidential election less than ten months away, the Democrats are cutting it close if they want to replace President Biden with an alternative candidate. Len Berman and Michael Riedel talked with Democratic Strategist Melissa DeRosa to get her thoughts on the big issue facing the party.

Washington is still not sure what to believe after House Intelligence Committee Chairman Mike Turner revealed that Congress may have information about a “serious national security threat.” The “threat” appears to be the possibility that Russia could launch a nuclear weapon into space in a pre-emptive effort to knock out American satellites in the event of war between the Russians and the United States. The revelation seemed startling enough, however, that House Speaker Mike Johnson declared the public should not be alarmed about a possible threat. WOR White House correspondent Jon Decker spoke with Len and Michael about the issue this week and said that even seasoned Washington reporters found the “nothing to see here” approach to be a head-scratcher.

After bipartisan immigration legislation failed to pass, there has been a lot of focus on whether or not President Biden has the authority as President to shut down the border himself. Conservative commentator Ann Coulter discussed the topic with Mark this week.

Fox News legal analyst Gregg Jarrett joined Mark this week to talk about the findings in the special counsel investigation into President Biden’s handling of classified documents, and the legal and political implications for Biden as opposed to those for Donald Trump.
