Malliotakis: Trump Trial Is a Case of "Exclusive Prosecution"

On Tuesday, hours after former President Donald Trump surrendered in Manhattan to be indicted, US Representative Nicole Malliotakis took to Twitter to push for a change of venue to Staten Island for the trial. She appeared on 710 WOR’s Len Berman and Michael Riedel in the Morning program to explain why she thinks the 45th President can’t get a fair trial.

“These charges would never have been brought against Donald Trump the real estate developer,” Malliotakis (R- Staten Island/South Brooklyn) told Riedel and newsman Joe Bartlett, filling in for Berman. “It’s because he is a political opponent, and the leading candidate for President, that this is happening. This is not just selective prosecution; I would even call it exclusive prosecution.”

Malliotakis was quick to point out that Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg chose to pursue a case other prosecutors passed on when they had the opportunity. “He has spent all this time and energy and police resources, taxpayer money, on something that has no victims. There’s no crime that he can state that elevates this to a felony, and all while he’s not doing his job, which is to keep the people of this city safe.”
