The Centers For Disease Control and Prevention is issuing a warning about going to the pool while you’re suffering from diarrhea, and while some people are commenting about why anyone needs to be told that, most are focused on the images the agency had made to illustrate why it’s a problem. Attached to the tweet they sent out is an animated GIF of a young cartoon girl going down a slide into a pool, leaving a brown streak behind her. Eww.
They didn’t stop there, either; on the official Diarrhea and Swimming page at the CDC website, they use another cartoon graphic of a small child in a pool with a brown streak floating away from them toward other people. The comments on the tweet range from wondering who needs to be told this to outrage over the image.
Why would the CDC do this? One commenter pointed out the attention the post has gotten… …saying “Great job, CDC. A tweet saying ‘CDC advises that swimming while sick with diarrhea is dangerous’ would have been ignored.”
