Dr. Gregory Poland of the Mayo Clinic said that getting back to normal will be a process while on the "Len Berman and Michael Riedel In The Morning" show.
"As we get immunized most of us believe what will happen over the next year or so is that this virus will become endemic which means it will always be with us. So the answer is yes, slowly, but in stages," said Dr. Poland.
A listener asked Dr. Poland if the vaccine will ever come in pill form.
"Two companies are working towards a pill-based vaccine so we don't yet if it will be successful but both the idea and technology are there," said Dr. Poland.
