The recent arrests of more than a dozen people in a plot to kidnap Michigan's governor isn't stopping President Trump from going after her. At a weekend rally in Muskegon, the President told supporters that the state's governor should never have shut down the state and should open up the schools.
Okay...but when the crowd began chanting "lock her up?" He laughed and jeered ālock āem all up.ā While Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer has mused that the President's rhetoric helped inspire the plot to kidnap her and Virginia Governor Ralph Northam ā there may be something to it. This, as prosecutors said the plot began after the President tweeted to liberate Michigan and Virginia.
Governor Whitmer is firing back Trump. First in a tweet, she wrote that his was the type of rhetoric "that put me, my family, and other government officials' lives in danger ... it needs to stop now." Later, she spoke out during an appearance on NBCās āMeet The Press.ā āItās dangerous, not just for me and my family,ā she noted. āBut for public servants everywhere who are doing their jobs and trying to protect their fellow Americans. People of good will on both sides of the aisle need to step up and call this out and bring the heat down.ā
