The first Phase Three clinical trial of a coronavirus vaccine in the U.S. is underway. The potential vaccine, developed by biotech firm Moderna and the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, will be tested at around 100 locations.
An estimated 30-thousand volunteers are taking part and will either get the vaccine or a placebo. The Moderna vaccine, which is backed by millions of dollars in federal funding, is one of 25 in clinical trials around the globe. But already, there’s great news: that the vaccine has had very positive results in monkeys.
Meanwhile, President Trump is taking plenty of heat for tweeting a video of Dr. Stella Immanuel. In the controversial clip, Dr. Immanuel maintains that hydroxychloroquine is an effective treatment for coronavirus – something that has not been proven. The video was later removed across various social media sites.
