The White House is trying to tamp down a growing flap involving trade adviser Peter Navarro and Dr. Anthony Fauci. Navarro wrote an op-ed that appeared in "USA Today" entitled, "Anthony Fauci Has Been Wrong About Everything I Have Interacted With Him On." And apparently, he didn’t get a White House blessing to do so.
First, White House spokeswoman Alyssa Farah tweeted that Navarro's op-ed "didn't go through normal White House clearance processes and is the opinion of Peter alone." But later? President Trump publicly slapped Navarro’s hand telling reporters that Navarro "made a statement representing himself" and "shouldn't be doing that."
Trump went on to insist that he has a "very good relationship with Anthony." And really, the timing of such comments from the President couldn’t be better as former President Barack Obama sees it. He posted a “New York Times” article on Twitter warning against the politicization of the pandemic and instead relying on science.
