Senator Amy Klobuchar is taking herself off Joe Biden's list of possible running mates. She told MSNBC she called him and said "this is a moment to put a woman of color" on the Democratic ticket. Klobuchar says she thinks a woman of color in the position would be a great way to help heal the nation.
As you likely know, Biden has vowed to choose a woman and is still vetting potential candidates. Two former rivals are said to be on his list – Senators Kamala Harris and Elizabeth Warren. The presumptive Democratic presidential nominee hopes to reveal his choice by August 1st.
"America must seize on the moment and I truly believe...that I think this is a moment to put a woman of color on that ticket," she said in the interview. "And there are so many incredible, qualified women. But if you want to heal this nation right now, my party yes, but our nation, this is a helluva way to do it."
