The producer of the Mrs. Butterworth's commercials in the 1970's David Perry called into the Len Berman and Micheal Riedel In The Morning show to talk about who the intention of the character was. "Mrs. Butterworth was created in the 1960's as a sweet old Aunt Bee type character. She was intentionally not African American just to avoid confusion with Aunt Jemima which was a bigger brand," said David.
Noam Laden asked David are they going after Mrs. Butterworth because the bottle is brown "I think the amber is part of it," said David.
