Former NYPD Commissioner Bernie Kerik called into the Len Berman and Michael Riedel In The Morning show to discuss the current state of the police force, how the media is treating them, and how to change black people from being fearful of the police. "You change it but stop telling everybody that the police are the enemy of the black man because CNN and MSNBC and other mainstream media outlets, that's what they do," said Commissioner Kerik. "You know that there are areas in the city and other cities around the country that have high violent crime rates, shooting rates, murder rates, and robbery rates. When you are in those areas police are targeting crime, not color," Kerik said.
Michael had asked if they should get rid of the chock-hold "I am against making it illegal because if you do that and an officer is in a fight for his life and he thinks in his head that he can't use it there is only one thing he is going to do and that's revert to deadly physical force with his firearm," said Bernie.
