Grammy and Emmy winning Composer Mike Post joined the Len Berman and Michael Riedel In The Morning show today to talk about how the Law and Order theme came together, the infamous "Dun Dun" sound effect, and much more. He told us that him and the creator of the show Dick Wolfe went to a drink and he told him the idea of the show. "The first half hour will be the cops and the second half will be the lawyers," said Mike of his conversation with Wolfe about the show. When Mike asked what the music should sound like he was told "just do something that defines New York."
Len went on the ask him about the "dun dun" effect "I get a call on the second day of the mix and asked about date stamping some scene changes with a sound." He told Len and Michael that it took three days with various different noises to get the right effect.
