Tennis legend Billie Jean King called into Len Berman and Michael Riedel In The Morning on 710WOR this morning to talk about a tennis center named after her, giving Michael pointers, the Battle of the Sexes, and if the U.S. Open will happen without fans or even in New York. "They looked at everything but they are really concentrating on being able to play in New York with the potential of playing in California because of the weather", she said. "We should have an answer in early June."
Michael also asked her advice on how to improve his net game: "your hand eye coordination has to be superb and you've got the block the ball".
It's almost 50 years since she played Bobby Riggs in the Battle of the Sexes and Len asked if she wished she was better known for her wins and championships instead of the battle. "I really want to be known for my team but playing Bobby Riggs with $90 million people watching brought people together," said Billie.
