Joe Biden says his vice presidential selection committee is vetting “more than a dozen women” as potential running mates. Biden had previously pledged to name a woman as vice president and says that he is aware of the desire in some quarters for him to select a black woman. He also said that he will pick someone who is "simpatico" with his views. He did recently share that former President Barack Obama had advised him to pick someone who "has strengths where I have weaknesses. Some of those reported on Biden’s shortlist include Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.) and former Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams.
