TWU International President John Samuelsen believes at least 60 MTA workers have now died because of coronavirus.
“New York City transit workers and MTA workers in general are concerned - very concerned - about getting exposed and bringing it home to our families,” Samuelsen told WOR’s “Len Berman and Michael Riedel in the Morning.”
Samuelsen said he’s now addressing about the death benefits for workers and their families. He said the union is having talks with the MTA about bringing relief to the loved ones of those who have died.
Samuelsen said the transit workers and the system are getting emergency workers to the job.
“If it weren’t for this system, there would be no battle against covid-19 in New York and across the country,” Samuelsen said.
