Councilman Joe Borelli says he was kicked out of the Staten Island St. Patrick’s Parade because he was wearing a rainbow flag pin on his jacket.
“When they saw my half-inch lapel pin, you’d have thought that it was a swastika or that I was kicking kittens along the parade route,” Borelli told WOR’s “Len Berman and Michael Riedel in the Morning.”
The councilman said he received the pin from the organizer of a pre-parade breakfast.
“These people physically got in the way of myself, my stroller. They blocked me and my wife. They called the police as if I was robbing a bank,” Borelli said.
