Legendary producer Irwin Winkler says he knew Goodfellas would be a great movie after being shown the first cut of it.
“I said, ‘Okay, this is going to be something,'” he told WOR’s Len Berman and Michael Riedel in the Morning.
Winkler said he read an excerpt of the book the movie was based on and later found out that Martin Scorsese was interested in directing it.
Winkler was also behind movies like Rocky and Raging Bull.
