GAO: White House DID Violate Law With Freezing Ukraine Aid

As the Senate impeachment trial of President Trump gets underway, a government watchdog group says the White House actually did violate federal law when it withheld nearly 400-million-dollars that Congress approved for security aid to Ukraine.

The Government Accountability Office (GAO) is a nonpartisan Office that reports to Congress. “Faithful execution of the law does not permit the President to substitute his own policy priorities for those that Congress has enacted into law,” the report offered. “OMB withheld funds for a policy reason, which is not permitted under the Impoundment Control Act (ICA)...Therefore, we conclude that OMB violated the ICA.”

The White House has criticized the decision as overreach and an attempt to jump into the media controversy of the day.
