Former U.S.-UN Ambassador Nikki Haley claims top cabinet members tried to get her to undermine President Trump. In an interview with CBS News to promote her new book, “With All Due Respect,” Haley claims that former Secretary of State Rex Tillerson and former Chief of Staff John Kelly told her they were resisting the President because they were "trying to save the country."
According to her, the pair reportedly tried to get her to join their efforts, but she refused. "Kelly and Tillerson confided in me that when they resisted the president, they weren't being insubordinate, they were trying to save the country,” Haley notes. “Tillerson went on to tell me the reason he resisted the president's decisions was because, if he didn't, people would die.”
Haley goes on to say that the conversation went on “for over an hour" – and she says she memorialized the entire exchange in her book. While Tillerson hasn’t commented on Haley’s claims, General Kelly tells "Sunday Morning": "If by resistance and stalling she means putting a staff process in place … to ensure the (president) knew all the pros and cons of what policy decision he might be contemplating so he could make an informed decision, then guilty as charged."
