Believe it or not, cops are still fighting moonshiners.
In fact, moonshine is still produced and thousands of gallons of bootleg booze can be found in South Carolina. Deputies were led to “a remote and deeply wooded area” in the Lowcountry region where they found more than a dozen rusty, 55-gallon drums with fermenting liquor inside them, according to the sheriff.
Officers used their shotguns and axes to the scene to bust into the barrels, where they discovered more ingredients to make hooch, including mash, plus a generator and other tools.
They estimated destroying some $6,000 worth of black-market liquor. No arrests have been made yet.
