Next funeral you are asked to attend, it might benefit you to show up and pay your respects.
A guy in Wisconsin named Dennis Valstad passed away a few months ago and got creative with his will. He owned a small business in town and never got married or had any kids but did have around $500,000 in assets when he died.
He decided secretly divide his estate equally to whoever showed up for his funeral. When it was all said and done, 270 people showed up to pay their respects and they all got letters in the mail to let them know they were each getting about $1,800.
