Scientists are going to try and get sheep to fart less to help save the planet.
The Grass To Gas initiative will start with figuring out how much the animals cut the cheese, then how to breed less gassy sheep. The plan is to genetically optimize how to breed, feed and manage sheep with reduced environmental impact.
In case you don’t know, methane gas is one of the biggest contributors to climate change. The project got about 250-thousand dollars in funding.
