Florida is officially preparing for Hurricane Dorian. The category one hurricane skirted around Puerto Rico, with the island avoiding a direct hit. Now, as it’s moved on from the Caribbean, it’s cruising into perfect conditions for gaining strength.
Forecasters say the storm will now take a northwestward turn on a path towards the Sunshine State, and while they haven’t nailed down where Dorian will strike exactly, Floridians aren’t taking any chances – especially because there is a significant possibility that Dorian will become a category three hurricane.
According to the National Hurricane Center, Dorian will make landfall late Sunday or early Monday morning. Florida's governor has declared a state of emergency to open up resources for emergency response agencies.
