Ed Sheeran Plans On Taking Long Break Now That Tour’s Over

As we previously told you, Ed Sheeran wrapped his “Divide World Tour” earlier this week, bringing in so much money it’s now the highest grossing tour of all time. Well, now that the very long trek has come to a close, Ed is planning a good, long break.

“As you may or not know, I’ve been on the 'Divide' tour for over two years now and this is the last day of the whole thing,” he told the crowd at his final hometown show in Ipswich. “There is something very bittersweet about it.” As for how long he’ll be off for, he sadly told the audience, “This is my last gig for probably 18 months.”

Ed shared that it was “an emotional day” for the folks on the tour, noting, “It kind of feels like, in a weird way, that you’re breaking up with a girlfriend that you’ve been with for years. It sounds odd but it has been a long tour.”

Finally, he offered, “I want to say thank you to everyone on this tour. Thank you to everyone who has given me a chance…See you in a few years time. Thank you.”

Ed wants to assure fans that his time off is just a break, and he's not going away for good. He shared on his Instagram Story, "I'm not bloody retiring either. The press is being over dramatic." He added, "I'm having 18 months off to make another album and hang out with my cats."
