If intelligence services are correct, the son of terrorist leader Osama bin Laden is reportedly dead. U.S. officials say they have information that Hamza bin Laden is dead – though they haven't said where or when he died…or who was involved.
Why does this matter? It was believed that Hamza would be the successor to lead al Qaeda after his father was killed in a 2011 U.S. Navy SEAL raid in Pakistan. Earlier this year, the State Department announced a one-million-dollar reward for information about Hamza bin Laden's location leading to his capture.
Hamza bin Laden's last known public statement was released by al Qaeda's media arm in 2018. In that message, called on the people of the Arabian peninsula to revolt. He was considered key to inspiring a “new generation of jihadists.”
