Las Vegas is dealing with swarms of grasshoppers.
After receiving more rain than normal this past rainy season, grasshoppers have flourished and tens of thousands of them have infested the Las Vegas Valley. While the insects are in town, they will mate and lay about 100 eggs each -- so the odds are good there will be a follow up attack of grasshoppers sometime in the near future.
The “swarm” is so great, that they are showing up on weather radars. Agriculture officials say that the insects are typically harmless.
