Officials are saying accused child sex trafficker and Manhattan financier Jeffrey Epstein is recovering after being found injured in his jail cell at the Metropolitan Correctional Center.
Epstein was found earlier last night in the fetal position on the floor of his cell in a semi-conscious state with marks on his neck. Investigators have not determined what happened to the 66-year-old, but speculation ranges from a suicide attempt to a possible assault and he's being kept on a suicide watch.
One source tells NBC News that the injury isn’t serious and two others say he may have tried to hang himself. Yet another source says an inmate, a former police officer, may have been questioned.
Epstein, who has pleaded not guilty to federal conspiracy and sex trafficking charges, is next due in court on July 31st.
