Frustration among progressive Democrats with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's decisions about impeachment proceedings against President Trump is "quite real." That’s the word from New York Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez during an interview on ABC's “This Week.”
She said pressure to impeach Trump is growing each day as new evidence comes in and was bolstered by Trump's comments last week that he would listen if a foreign government offered damaging information on an opponent.
Ocasio-Cortez said the decision to bring forward impeachment proceedings should not be based on a political decision, as some argue it could hurt the Democratic party, but should be made because “it's the constitutional responsibility of Congress.”
Separately, Ocasio-Cortez noted that there is a "very real risk" President Trump will win re-election in 2020. "I think that we have a very real risk of losing the presidency to Donald Trump if we do not have a presidential candidate that is fighting for true transformational change in the lives of working people in the United States.” Trump’s response? “I agree.”
