Actress Chrissy Metz says it’s “really important” to have a character on TV like Kate Pearson from “This is Us,” who doesn’t fit the Hollywood stereotype.
She told WOR’s “Len Berman and Michael Riedel in the Morning” that people can relate, because everyone feels inadequate and feels pressure from society to look a certain way.
“Doesn’t everybody deserve to have their story told no matter what size or height or race or age they are?” Metz asked.
Metz said early on in her career, producers tried to limit her to certain roles because of her weight. She said in recent years, opportunities have expanded because of “This is Us.”
“To see things change, it’s really great,” Metz said.
In addition to starring on “This is Us” and is the author of the book “This is Me: Loving the Person You Are Today.”
