Tiger Woods Wins Tour Championship After Five-Year Drought

Tiger Woods scored his first tournament victory in five years after winning the 2018 Tour Championship on Sunday as he rolled into his final-round 11 under with a 71, two strokes over Billy Horchel, the 2014 FedExCup champion.

Dustin Johnson was third and the no. 1 golfer in the world, Justin Rose, tied for fourth with Hideki Matsuyama, and Webb Simpson.

This marks Woods' 80th win and the first since 2013.

Golf fans marveled at Woods' performance on Sunday, only seventeen months after being undergoing several back surgeries to his spine and four surgeries to his left knee.

While recovering, he was arrested on suspicion of DUI,and his mugshot went viral around the world, with many fans questioning if they would ever see Woods perform at the level of early days in his career.

Woods may have won the tour championship, igniting the golf world about Tiger's comeback, but it was Justin Rose, currently ranked as the #1 golfer in the world, who picked up the 2018 FedEx crown and $10 million purse that goes with it. Woods will go home with a bonus of $3 million.

Rose tied for fourth at 6 under after birding the 18th hold. One stroke was all that separated Woods from going home with two trophies in Atlanta.

"I had a hard time not crying coming up the last hole," Woods said during an emotional NBC interview.

"At the beginning of the year, this was a tall order. But as the year progressed I put pieces together again and I knew I could do it again." In a series of tweets, golfing great Jack Nicklaus congratulated Woods on his win with a series of tweets, complimenting him on his comeback.

"I never dreamed @TigerWoods could come back and swing the way he has, after surgery," Nicklaus tweeted. "I think you could argue he’s swinging better than he has ever in his life. He has played fantastically!"
