Fire at Kings Plaza Parking Garage (UPDATE)

Several cars went up in flames on Monday morning as a parking garage in Brooklyn caught on fire.

Firefighters responded to the 5-alarm blaze at the Kings Plaza shopping mall just before 9 a.m.  No injuries have been reported and people are being told to stay away from the scene.

Social media lit up with pictures and video of smoke billowing from the parking garage.

No word on the cause.  An investigation is continuing.

UPDATE...

Avon Stephens, 23, said “I’m sorry. I apologize,” after he was seated in the back of an unmarked police car for his short trip to Brooklyn Criminal Court. He's been charged with arson for allegedly setting the blaze at the Kings Plaze Shopping Center parking garage. He told police that he targeted the cars because "people are having sex" in them. A source told the New York Post that there is no indication that people are actually having sex.
