This Week's Weird News 9/15/23

A pair of alleged alien bodies revealed in Mexico, a possible lake monster sighting in China, and a Thai woman who believes that a ghost made her jump off a bridge were among the weird and wondrous stories to cross our desk this past week.

A pair of legendary lake monsters popped up in the news this past week, beginning with an intriguing case out of China, where a woman captured footage of a sizeable silver-colored creature that emerged from the country's picturesque Lake Tianchi. Her video quickly went viral on Chinese social media with many suggesting that the aquatic anomaly, which is believed to have been around fifty feet in length, could be a proverbial 'monster' long rumored to reside in the location. Meanwhile, over in Scotland, the famed Loch Ness Monster may have made its presence known once again when a witness spotted something break the surface of the water of the iconic site and its movement created an enormous and inexplicable wake.

This past week featured two decidedly different stories centered around official government interest in the UFO phenomenon. First, at a Mexican Congressional hearing on UAPs, ufologist Jaime Maussan unveiled what he claimed to be the mummified remains of two non-human entities found in a Peruvian cave. The eye-catching 'aliens,' which were said to be around 1,000 years old, astounded the politicians in attendance and sparked worldwide headlines, however scientists subsequently expressed considerable skepticism over the veracity of the fantastic revelation. Later in the week, in a much staider affair, NASA's UAP study group released a report on their work investigating the UFO phenomenon and indicated that they have yet to find any evidence that it is connected to ETs.

By far the eeriest story of the week occurred in Thailand by way of an incident in which a woman jumped from a bridge into a canal and later asserted that a ghost had compelled her to make the perilous leap. The creepy case began when the unnamed Bangkok resident was riding her bike and noticed a man dressed entirely in white. The mysterious stranger beckoned her to come over to him, but when she approached the mysterious stranger, she began to feel faint and heard him muttering the chilling words "I want you to die. I want you to die." The woman subsequently woke up in the hospital with no idea how she wound up there and speculated that the man was a sinister spirit who somehow made her to jump from the bridge.
