The New York Police Department is gearing up for a grand event as pop superstar Taylor Swift and three-time Super Bowl winner Travis Kelce prepare to tie the knot at Madison Square Garden in Manhattan. The wedding, scheduled for Friday, is expected to draw around 1,000 guests, with festivities running from 5:30 p.m. to 2 a.m.

According to a source, the NYPD has issued a memo titled "Taylor Swift's Wedding at Madison Square Garden," outlining security measures for the event. The memo details plans to shut down West 31st Street between 7th and 8th Avenues, with hundreds of officers expected to patrol the area.

Preparations for the wedding began days in advance, with lighting and equipment being moved into the venue. The event will include a rehearsal dinner for 100 guests at a venue inside the Garden the night before the wedding. Guests have received watermarked invitations to prevent leaks, and the couple has kept the guest list secretive.

The wedding is set to feature performances by A-list artists, including Stevie Nicks and Tim McGraw, and is described as "bigger than the Met Gala" by some reports. The NYPD is providing taxpayer-funded security and traffic control for the event, which has sparked some public criticism.

As the wedding coincides with the United States' 250th birthday celebrations, revelers will also gather in Times Square, just 10 blocks north, for the America 250 festivities. The NYPD's efforts to ensure safety and manage crowds during these overlapping events are part of a coordinated plan approved by New York City’s Street Activity Permit Office.
