New York Knicks fans rushed to secure tickets for the NBA Finals watch party at Madison Square Garden, with the $10 tickets selling out within an hour on Tuesday. The Knicks are facing the San Antonio Spurs, marking their first NBA Finals appearance since 1999. The watch party offers fans a chance to experience the game atmosphere inside the iconic arena, even though the team is playing away in San Antonio.
Tickets for the Madison Square Garden watch party were initially priced at $10, with proceeds benefiting the Garden of Dreams Foundation. However, the high demand led to resale prices skyrocketing, with some tickets listed for up to $700. For those unable to snag a ticket, the Knicks are hosting a free watch party at SummerStage in Central Park, although registration is required and spots filled up quickly.
To accommodate the growing excitement, the Knicks have also organized official "bar takeovers" across New York and New Jersey, providing additional venues for fans to gather and watch the games. These locations include popular spots like Amity Hall, Harlem Tavern, and Mustang Harry's, among others.
Mayor Zohran Mamdani expressed his excitement about the Knicks' Finals run and the city's support for the watch parties. Despite previous concerns from the NYPD about outdoor gatherings, the indoor events at Madison Square Garden and SummerStage are proceeding as planned.
For fans who missed out on tickets, the Knicks' official watch party page provides updates and additional viewing options throughout the Finals series.
