The Stage Is Set For Texas Senate Race

The Texas Senate primary runoff election took place yesterday and a surprising result occurred as state Attorney General Ken Paxton won by a large margin over four term incumbent John Cornyn. Paxton will be taking on the Democratic nominee James Talarico who has been gaining some momentum in the state and party ahead of this November. Rob Astorino, WOR and NewsMax host, spoke with Curtis Sliwa and Larry Mendte in the Morning about the runoff election and how Paxton was able to win.

“Pro-Cornyn money from the US Senate, the Republican side, the super PACs, they spent $125 million supporting John Cornyn,” Astorino told hosts Sliwa and Mendte. “Paxton had $18 million total; that’s a 7:1 ratio… and one Presidential endorsement wiped it all out.”

Astorino does not think that the momentum gained by Talarico will amount to anything: “This ain’t New York, it ain’t New Jersey, this is Texas… Texas isn’t changing; if you look at the enrollment Texas is getting more Republican.”
