President Donald Trump is set to visit Rockland Community College in Suffern, New York, on Friday to support Congressman Mike Lawler. The event, scheduled to begin at 3 p.m., aims to highlight the administration's efforts to improve affordability for Americans through various tax cuts.

The visit is part of a campaign event in one of the nation's most competitive congressional districts, where Lawler, representing New York's 17th District, is up for re-election in November. The district is considered a key battleground, and the outcome could influence control of the U.S. House.

The event will focus on federal tax cuts, including an increased deduction for state and local taxes (SALT). The SALT deduction cap was raised from $10,000 to $40,000 as part of Trump's "One Big Beautiful Bill Act," a move that Lawler supported. Lawler emphasized the importance of constituents hearing directly from the president on these issues.

The visit has drawn criticism from Democrats, who argue that the tax cuts reduce federal Medicaid and healthcare spending. Five Democrats are competing in a June 23 primary to challenge Lawler in the upcoming elections.

Tickets for the event are available on a first-come, first-served basis, and attendees can register for up to two tickets per mobile number. The event marks the first presidential visit to Rockland County in 50 years.
