The Republican nominee for Governor of New York Bruce Blakeman won a major court battle in his pursuit for Kathy Hochul’s place this November. He is now eligible for matching funds for his campaign and can turn up his pursuit of the Democratic nominee as he currently sits far behind in the polls. Rob Astorino, WOR and NewsMax host, spoke with Curtis Sliwa and Larry Mendte in the Morning about where each candidate stands six months out.
“Kathy Hochul is not in a great position; consistently in every poll she is under 50% and in some cases well under,” Astorino told Sliwa. “It doesn’t matter where Blakeman is now, he has plenty of time to get to where he needs to go.”
Astorino believes the candidates need to change their campaign messaging to better respond with voters: “Inside the weeds of a budget nobody cares, it’s only a headline; the theme has never changed, its unaffordable, New York is unaffordable, you don’t need to convince people that you don’t need to spend millions of dollars trying to get them to understand something they already know.”
