Donald Trump’s First Day In China

Donald Trump landed in China yesterday to begin meetings with Chinese President Xi over a number of issues facing both countries. These talks mark a significant point as tensions have been high between these two leaders at points over the last couple of years. Jon Decker, WOR White House correspondent who is in China, spoke with Curtis Sliwa and Larry Mendte in the Morning about Donald Trumps first day and his welcome to the foreign country.

“This morning the President had that welcoming ceremony; welcomed by President Xi here in Beijing,” Decker told hosts Sliwa and Mendte. “A lot of pageantry, pomp, that’s what the President likes; he’s welcomed with a 21 gun salute, a military honor guard, even dozens of Chinese kids waving American and Chinese flags.”

Decker told Sliwa and Mendte what the two leaders discussed at their much anticipated meeting: “Then it was on to the summit… they talked about a number of big issues on the plate for both countries; certainly trade, Taiwan, and the issue of the war in Iran.”
