Governor Kathy Hochul has announced that registration is now open for free tickets to the New York State United 2026 World Cup Watch Experience. This large-scale viewing event will take place on Friday, June 12, at Stony Brook University on Long Island. The event will feature live broadcasts of two World Cup matches: Canada vs. Bosnia and Herzegovina at 3 p.m. and the United States vs. Paraguay at 9 p.m.

The event aims to bring the excitement of the 2026 FIFA World Cup directly to New York communities, providing a family-friendly environment with interactive soccer experiences, entertainment, and local food and beverage offerings. Governor Hochul expressed her pride in making the World Cup accessible to New Yorkers, saying, "By creating free, family-friendly viewing events across New York, we’re making it easier for families, fans, and communities to come together, celebrate the world’s game, and create lasting memories."

Stony Brook University, a SUNY flagship, is proud to host the event. Andrea Goldsmith, the university's president, stated, "This event reflects our commitment to being accessible, welcoming, and deeply connected to the region we call home." Attendees are encouraged to use public transit to access the venue, ensuring easy and sustainable travel.

This initiative is part of a broader strategy by Governor Hochul to leverage major global events for long-term benefits across New York State. The World Cup Watch Experience is designed to promote community engagement and youth soccer development. A second viewing event is planned for July 19 at Kensico Dam Plaza in Westchester County.
