In a move to promote transparency about the existence of alien life, the Pentagon released several dozen files containing material pertaining to UFO sightings. The162 files that were made public Friday morning were ordered to be declassified by the Trump administration. While some of the files may pique the interest of believers in alien life, including one file that contains testimony from astronauts who saw bright sparks of light while on the Apollo 17 mission to the moon in 1972, many people are suggesting the files should be taken with a grain of salt. So… what are people hoping to find in files, and will it be enough to satisfy their curiosity?
Former WOR news director Joe Bartlett is among the people who fervently believe that aliens do exist, but he has mixed feelings about what will come out of the files’ release. He appeared on 710 WOR’s Curtis Sliwa and Larry Mendte in the Morning program to explain why.
Bartlett expounded for Curtis and Larry on why guarded optimism and downright skepticism go hand-in-hand when contemplating the existence of alien life: “I’m a believer, firmly, that these aliens exist; however, you’ve got to think that, if the government does produce solid proof- bodies, pictures of aliens- there’s serious ramifications here, starting with religion. How do you reconcile the existence of God and aliens at the same time. I mean, it’s going to create a lot of trouble and emotional upset around the world, I think, and for a lot of people, that- oh my God, no, is he, are you an alien? Are you an alien? So, you’ve got to be cautious about this.”
Bartlett cited a filmmaker who appeared recently on Sean Hannity’s program to explain an upcoming project; he discussed the national security concerns that would arise from admitting aliens exist: “I believe this, too, that we may have access to some of this alien technology, and that we may be reverse-engineering to develop some of the aircraft that we have- look at the stealth bomber right now.”
