The 2026 Met Gala is set to take place on Monday evening at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. This year's theme, "Costume Art," celebrates the museum's new exhibition at the Costume Institute, which explores the "centrality of the dressed body" through art and fashion. The dress code, "Fashion is Art," encourages attendees to view fashion as a form of artistic expression.

The exhibition, showcased in the newly inaugurated Condé M. Nast Galleries, features nearly 400 objects, pairing garments from the Costume Institute with paintings, sculptures, and other works spanning 5,000 years of art history. According to Vogue, curator Andrew Bolton emphasized the significance of fashion within the museum, stating, "It's the common thread throughout the whole museum."

This year's Met Gala co-chairs include Beyoncé, Nicole Kidman, Venus Williams, and Anna Wintour. The event will also feature a star-studded host committee, with members such as Sabrina Carpenter, Doja Cat, and Gwendoline Christie. Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez Bezos will serve as honorary chairs, supporting the gala as lead sponsors.

The Met Gala, often dubbed "fashion's biggest night out," is a fundraising benefit for the museum and marks the opening of the Costume Institute's annual fashion exhibit. Attendees are expected to don their most creative and art-inspired outfits, embodying the theme of the evening. As the event unfolds, fashion enthusiasts worldwide will be watching to see how celebrities interpret "Fashion is Art" on the red carpet.
