The New York Knicks are set to host the Atlanta Hawks at Madison Square Garden tonight (April 28) in a pivotal Game 5 of their NBA playoffs series. The series is currently tied 2-2, with the Knicks coming off a strong 114-98 victory over the Hawks on Saturday. Tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET, and the game will be broadcast on NBC and Peacock.
The Knicks, who were favored entering the series, aim to capitalize on their home-court advantage. NBA teams that win Game 5 in a tied best-of-seven series go on to win the series 81.5% of the time, according to NBC Sports.
In Game 4, Karl-Anthony Towns led the Knicks with a triple-double, recording 20 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists. OG Anunoby added 22 points and 10 rebounds, while Jalen Brunson contributed 19 points despite an ankle injury. Their efforts helped the Knicks secure a much-needed win to level the series.
The Hawks, led by CJ McCollum, have shown resilience throughout the series. McCollum, who has averaged 24.5 points per game, will be crucial for Atlanta's chances. However, he was limited to 17 points in Game 4, and the Hawks struggled with turnovers, committing 19, which the Knicks converted into 21 points.
The Hawks will need to improve their shooting and fast-break opportunities to challenge the Knicks. Atlanta head coach Quin Snyder acknowledged the Knicks' defensive intensity and emphasized the need for his team to match their physicality.
With the series tied, tonight's game is critical for both teams. The Knicks will look to maintain their momentum, while the Hawks aim to regain control and edge closer to advancing to the second round.
